Elbow extension night brace

A brace that limits how much the elbow bends at night — sometimes used when ulnar nerve symptoms flare with sleeping with the elbow deeply bent, or after cubital tunnel surgery as part of a surgeon-directed plan. It is not a substitute for evaluation if numbness or weakness is worsening.

Cubital tunnel release

Commonly used for

  • Night symptoms linked to prolonged elbow flexion when a clinician recommends extension positioning
  • Sleep posture retraining alongside activity modification

Cautions

  • Numbness, tingling, color change, or swelling beyond mild strap adjustment discomfort — loosen or stop and seek advice
  • Pressure over the ulnar nerve at the cubital tunnel from a poor fit or overtightening
  • Do not ignore progressive weakness or muscle wasting

Typical wear

Usually night-only or as directed — confirm duration and angle with your surgical team after an operation.

Care

Wipe hard surfaces; wash soft liners per manufacturer. Check skin daily where straps cross.

Cost (USD)

$35–$130. Prefabricated hinged elbow braces vary widely; custom thermoplastic from a therapist may cost more.

How to get one

  • Retail pharmacy
  • Online
  • Hand therapist (fit guidance)

Prescription: Sometimes required. After surgery, confirm the exact brace type with your team before purchasing.
