Best for
- Web-space tightness
- Thumb extension loss
Default dose
6 reps • 15s hold • 2×/day
Avoid when
- Acute EPL repair without clearance
Measurement targets
- Hold time without next-day flare
Setup
- Rest the hand palm-down on a table with fingers relaxed.
Steps

- 2Hold the stretch; avoid sharp pinch pain.
- 3Return slowly to the start.
Stop if you feel
Stop rules
- Sharp pain (≥ 4/10)
- Increasing swelling during or after
- New or worsening numbness or tingling
- Color change in fingers (pale, blue, red)
- Wound opens, drains, or feels hot
- Next morning is worse than the day before
Progressions
- Combine with light active thumb lifts if cleared.
Regressions
- Shorter holds; smaller line of pull.
